Gunmen kill village head, another in Benue

Gunmen have killed a traditional ruler, Chief Hyacinth Ajon, and one Benjamin Anakula at Tse-Zoola, in Makurdi Local Council of Benue State. Narrating the incident, yesterday, to Governor Samuel Ortom, who was returning from a funeral, the eldest man in the community, Aho Zoola, said the gunmen, without any provocation, attacked the villagers about 2a.m. when the people were fast asleep, and killed the two persons. When Governor Ortom asked if they had rustled cows in the past, he replied in the negative, insisting that the villagers had never had any issue with the herdsmen, even when their herds graze on their crops.Ortom, after sympathising with the villagers, assured them that he would do everything possible to get security agencies to the area. Nigerian Idol: Excitement as 68 contestants head to theatre week

After four weeks of excitement, the auditions for Nigerian Idol season 6 came to an end last Sunday night with 14 contestants receiving golden tickets to advance to the Theatre round. One of the performances that stood out from last night’s auditions was from Winning, a 22-year-old producer, who performed a self-written song much to the admiration of the audience and judges. Another outstanding performer was Faith Jason. Faith’s rendition of All Time Low by Jon Bellion was so good that Seyi Shay stood up to personally hand him a golden ticket and named him one of her favourites this season. However, some contestants had a night to forget, as they were unable to impress the judges.
